Sets of small demitasse spoons are sometimes encountered with a small "bean" at the top. Most of the time these beans are black, but sometimes they are green or brown. I suspect that the beans have been treated in some manner so as to prevent their deterioration. These unusual looking spoons are often found in sets of six, but it is not unusual to find them singly. While these spoons are not expensive, they are interesting pieces.
