Mexico has a vast array of different gemstones and minerals and the craftworkers have a long tradition of carving these stones into different shapes for sale to visiting tourists. For the most part, these spoons are "commercial tourist quality". Note the words "green stone" on this page do not refer to the use of that term by New Zealand or Australia. It is used here simply as a description.

This spoon has a light amethyst colored stone.
I am unsure if it is amethyst or a glass look-a-like, but it is nicely done.
