COLUMBIAN WORLDS FAIR SPOONS
GLOBES
One of the major images of the Chicago worlds fair of 1893 was the
globe of the world.
These spoons are sterling.
Globes are also found on many other spoons from this worlds fair, but
in this instance it is the primary feature.
The two spoons on the right have a mechanical globe. The globe can be
turned with your fingers.
Mechanical parts of spoons are fairly rare and these spoons are also
fairly rare. ( few other examples of mechanical spoons are shown in
other exhibits)
In this case one bowl is gold plated.
