COLUMBIAN WORLDS FAIR

CHICAGO 1893

One of the major themes of this important worlds fair was the 400th anniversary of the European discovery of the 'new world' by
CHRISTOPHER COLUMBUS in 1492.

THE MAIN THEME OF THESE STERLING SILVER SPOONS IS COLUMBUS

with a subtheme of his ship the Santa Maria

all spoons are sterling

In two cases, the spoons are turned over because I had duplicates -- thus you can see the back images

Some of the spoons are hand assembled while others are factory productions

columbus spoon
I like the cutout handle on this spoon.
The picture was made from a 'brown transfer print' which is a rare mode of spoon bowl decoration
